Cuba detects 15 new cases of COVID-19 over the past 24 hours

Havana, June 18, 2020 -- The National Director of Epidemiology of the Cuban Ministry of Public Health, Dr. Francisco Duran, reported that there were 15 new cases detected of COVID-19, for an total of 2,295 positive cases across the island.  

During his daily press briefing held Thursday morning, Dr. Duran said that over the past 24 hours -- up to 12 midnight Wednesday night -- unfortunately, one patient died from the coronavirus.  A total of 85 patients have died in Cuba over the past several months.

Cuba will participate in the 25th Ordinary Meeting of the Association of Caribbean States Ministerial Council

Havana, 18 June 2020. – On Friday, 19 June Cuba will participate in the 25th Ordinary Meeting of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS) Ministerial Council, to be held online.

In the meeting there will be an exchange on actions carried out by the ACS in the field of tourism, trade, transport, prevention and mitigation of natural disasters, as well as the sustainability of the Caribbean Sea. The elections for the new Secretary-General of the Association and the new Executive Board of the Ministerial Council and Special Committees are scheduled.

Cuban foreign minister condemns all expressions of racism

Havana, Jun 17, 2020.- Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez condemned on Wednesday all expressions of racism, racial discrimination and xenophobia.

Upon stating that the Caribbean nation joins the debates of the 43rd session of the UN Human Rights Council (HRC), the head of Cuban diplomacy called to fight against human rights violations because of skin color and ethnic origin.

We join our voices to the debates of #HRC43, Rodriguez posted on his Twitter account, upon explaining that we live in an increasingly unequal and complex world.

The Chancellor of Malta and the Ambassador of Cuba to that country hold a meeting by teleconference.

Rome, June 17, 2020. The concurrent Ambassador of Cuba to the Republic of Malta, José Carlos Rodríguez Ruiz, held a video conference meetingthis morning with the Maltese Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Evarist Bartolo.

During the cordial meeting, both referred to the experiences of their respective countries in the fight to COVID19, as well as the impact of the aforementioned pandemic in both countries.
