VFC sign Cuban volleyball coaches in SEA Games push

The Volleyball Federation of Cambodia (VFC) on September 16 signed two experienced Cuban coaches to join the Kingdom’s national indoor and beach volleyball teams.With the addition of the two new coaches, the federation expressed confidence at being best prepared to win gold medals at the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in 2023, which Cambodia is hosting for the first time in its history. During the signing ceremony at the VFC headquarters in Phnom Penh, Karell Pena Ventoza was appointed beach volleyball team head coach and Berto Friol Barrios indoor volleyball team assistant coach.

Cambodian minister in Cuba to expand sports cooperation

Cambodia's Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, Hang Chuon Naron, is visiting Cuba at the head of a high-level delegation of his country. As head of sports of his country, Naron brings the purpose of promoting exchanges with the island in this area. Osvaldo Vento Montiller, president of Inder, welcomed the distinguished visitor at Jose Marti International Airport, along with Gisleidy Sosa Cabrera and Cambodia's ambassador to Cuba, Ban Borom.

Cuban trainers in Cambodia to help develop volleyball

The arrival of four Cuban beach and indoor volleyball coaches and officials is welcomed this Friday by sports officials in Cambodia, a country that will host the Southeast Asian Games in 2023. Peña was of them who most attracted the attention, because according to VFC secretary-general Aing Serey Piseth, “although our training is not yet at the highest standard, finishing fifth at the recent Southeast Asian Games in Vietnam shows that our beach volleyball team is not that bad.”

Cambodia, Cuba strengthen relations

Cambodia and Cuba have discussed the preparation for the upcoming exchange of high-level visits between the two countries with the strong expectation these historical visits would pave the way for the strengthening of the bilateral ties. The discussion took place between Prak Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and visiting First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba,  Gerardo Peñalver Portal, during their meeting here on Sept. 2, 2022.

Cambodia, Cuba to deepen cooperation on information exchange

The Kingdom of Cambodia and the Republic of Cuba have agreed to further strengthen their bilateral cooperation on information exchange for the mutual interest of the two peoples. The agreement was made by Cambodian Minister of Information Khieu Kanharith and visiting Gerardo Peñalver Portal, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, during their meeting here at the ministry this morning. Both sides agreed to improve the cooperation between the Cambodian state-owned news agency, Agence Kampuchea Presse (AKP) and its Cuban counterpart, Prensa Latina (PL), through the update of their cooperation agreement and visit exchange.
