Cuba condemns and rejects in the strongest possible terms an anti-Cuban event promoted by the United States at the United Nations headquarter

The U.S. Department of State issued a press release on 12 October, informing of the Government's intention to use the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Chamber of the United Nations to hold an event aimed at launching a Campaign called "Jailed for What?" against Cuba on Tuesday, 16 October 2018.

This action at the ECOSOC Chamber, a Major Organ of the Organization, seeks to tarnish the name of the United Nations in an act against a Member State, in contravention of the purposes and principles of the Charter.

Financial persecution, a distinctive feature of the US blockade against Cuba in recent years

Between April 2017 and March 2018, Cuban financial institutions continued to be subject to a policy of hostility and persecution by the United States government. The monetary-financial effects as a result of the blockade amounted to 538,300,000 dollars, to which were added, damages to the Cuban banking system from incidents reported in 128 foreign banks, between April 2017 and March 2018.

Cuba states in the United Nations its achievements in the promotion and protection of the rights of children

New York, October 10, 2018. The Permanent Representative of Cuba to the United Nations, Ambassador Anayansi Rodríguez Camejo, illustrated Cuba's achievements in the promotion and protection of the rights of children, in her statement at the Third Committee of the UN, on Item 70 by the same name.

The Embassy of Cuba sent a condolences message to the government and people of Indonesia

Jakarta, October 2, 2018. On this afternoon, the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia a message of deep condolences to the Indonesian government and people, particularly to the families and friends of the victims, on occasion of the tragedy caused by the earthquake and tsunami, that affected the province of Central Sulawesi, on September 28.

The Embassy reports that there have been no Cuban citizens among the victims of the grievous natural phenomenon.
