Statement by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, at the 79th General Assembly of the United Nations. New York, September 28, 2024

Mr. President;

Mr. Secretary General;

I dedicate these first words to ratify Cuba’s solidarity and support to the brotherly people of Palestine, victim of more than 75 years of colonial occupation, flagrant violations to their legitimate rights as a nation, submitted to cruelty, aggressions, collective punishments and apartheid.

It is an unacceptable tragedy, plain for all to see; it’s a wound in human consciousness.

Nearly 600 parliamentarians from 73 countries call on the US to take Cuba off the “state-sponsor of terrorism” list

Nearly 600 parliamentarians from 73 countries across the globe have written a joint letter, coordinated and published by the Progressive International (PI), condemning Cuba’s designation by the United States as a “state-sponsor of terrorism” as “cynical, cruel, and a clear violation of international law”. In the letter, published today, Friday 20 September, the legislators call on their respective governments to “take immediate action to advocate for [the designation’s] removal.”

35 former presidents of the world send a letter to the president of the United States requesting that Cuba be removed from the list of countries that support terrorism

Havana, September 13, 2024.- The former president of Colombia Ernesto Samper announced the letter that he and 34 other former leaders from Latin America and the Caribbean, Europe, Africa and Asia signed. 

In the letter, the former leaders asked President Joe Biden to remove Cuba from that list before the end of his term and asked him to heed this humanitarian call to alleviate the situation of millions of innocent people.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba to present a report on impact of the US blockade

Havana, Sep 12, 2024.- The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bruno Rodríguez, will present to the national and foreign press accredited in Havana an updated report on the effects of the United States blockade against Cuba.

The document covers the effects caused by the blockade from March 2023 to February 2024, while illustrating the consequences that US policy has had on various sectors of Cuban society.
