First of all, I want to thank all of you to be here celebrating with us 66 years of the triumph of Cuban Revolution, led by our Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz and that we have assumed the commitment to the continuity of Fidel's thought and preserve the great objectives of the construction of socialism.

In Sri Lanka celebrated 66th anniversary of the Cuban Revolution

Colombo, December 31, 2024. A tribute and celebration event was held at the Cuban embassy in Colombo on the occasion of the 66th anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban revolution, which is commemorated on January 1, 2025. The event was head by the Cuban ambassador Andrés Marcelo González Garrido and as a special   guest, the Minister of Commerce, Food Security and Cooperative Development, parliamentarian and member of the Central Committee of the People's Liberation Front party (JVP, currently in government), Hon. Wasantha Samarasinghe.

Today, the Democratic Left Front (DLF) celebrates the 66th anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution with Friends. This historic event, led by Fidel Castro and the 26th of July Movement, marked a turning point in Latin American history, inspiring movements for social justice and self-determination across the globe.

Colombo, December 27, 2024. During a visit to the state television channels of Rupavahini Corporation, the Cuban ambassador, Andrés Marcelo González Garrido had the opportunity to greet and exchange with Gihan de Silva, the new chairman of Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC).
During the meeting, they discussed possible collaborations between Cuba and Sri Lanka in the areas of communication, information and television. Directors and officials of (SLRC) also participated.

Colombo, December 26, 2024. The new Minister of Youth and Sports of Sri Lanka, Honourable Sunil Kumara Gamagem, received the Cuban ambassador at the headquarters of the ministry he heads.
During the meeting, the ambassador explained to the minister about the sporting development that Cuba has achieved after the triumph of the revolution and the massification of sport, as well as the important achievements that the country has obtained in regional and world competitions.
The minister expressed his interest in strengthening ties in this sphere between the two countries.
