Prime Minister of Vietnam meet with the Cuban President of the National Assembly

Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc received Cuban President of the National Assembly, Esteban Lazo Hernández, stressing that Vietnam is encouraging the creation of favorable conditions to further the development of bilateral relations. Vietnam continues to pursue the stance of supporting the complete removal of embargoes against Cuba, he said.

Noting that two-way trade turnover between the two countries last year remained low, reaching US$216 million, the PM proposed measures to boost trade relations between the two nations.

Vietnam and Cuba agree to beef up legislative ties

National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyễn Thị Kim Ngân and her Cuban counterpart Esteban Lazo Hernandez agreed to enhance legislative ties between Vietnam and Cuba through the exchange of all-level delegations and experience sharing. 

The consensus was reached during their talks in Hanoi yesterday following a welcome ceremony for the Cuban top legislator, who is on an official visit to Vietnam from June 11-18. 

“Vietnam is on the side of Cuba in any circumstances”, President Tran Dai Quang.

Vietnam's president, Tran Dai Quang, reaffirmed his country's willingness to stand side by side with Cuba in any difficult situation, during the meeting here with Leopoldo Cintra Frías, minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of the Caribbean island.

After emphasizing and thanking Cuba's support for Vietnam, both in the struggle for independence in the past and in the construction and national safeguard in the present, Tran Dai Quang expressed his satisfaction with the development of the bilateral cooperation in all spheres.

Cuba and Vietnam signed health cooperation agreements to strengthen the cooperation in this sector, through which the island will provide professional services to the Indochina nation.

One of the documents was signed by Juana María Larrea, on behalf of Cuban Medic al Services (CSMC) and Vu Thi Thanh Giang, from the International General Hospital Thu Cuc, in the presence of the deputy minister Marcia Cobas, who led the delegation of the Caribbean country.
