Cook Islands host visits from Chile and Cuba

RAROTONGA, 8th November 2024.- The Cook Islands has welcomed the formal accreditation of two new Ambassadors, with Her Excellency Mrs. Manahi Pakarati, Ambassador of the Republic of Chile, and His Excellency Mr. Luis Rodriguez, Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba, presenting their credentials to the King’s Representative, Sir Tom Marsters.

Chile and Cuba share longstanding ties with the Pacific region, and this accreditation ceremony reflects the Cook Islands’ commitment to enhancing its diplomatic and cooperative relations with both nations.

Opening of the Latin American Film Festival in Palmerston North

Palmerston North, October 20, 2024 – The Latin American Film Festival was successfully inaugurated yesterday in the city of Palmerston North, bringing together distinguished personalities and cinema lovers. The opening ceremony featured remarks from Grant Smith, the city’s mayor, and Luis Ernesto Morejón, the Cuban Ambassador to New Zealand, who spoke emotionally about the importance of cultural exchange between Latin America and Aotearoa.

Celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Cuba and New Zealand

Wellington, October 16, 2024.- To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, an exhibition of Cuban art by renowned visual artist Yosvany Martínez Pérez was inaugurated at the New Zealand Parliament. The ceremony was attended by Gerry Brownlee, Speaker of the House, Todd McClay, Minister of Agriculture and Trade and Associate Minister for Foreign Affairs, representatives of all parliamentary parties, James Waite, Director of the Americas at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, members of the Diplomatic Corps, journalists, and friends of Cuba.
