AMBASSADOR RODOLFO BENÍTEZ VERSON, PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF CUBA SPEAKS AT THE GENERAL DEBATE OF THE WORKING GROUP ON THE PREVENTION OF AN ARMS RACE IN OUTER SPACE.
Mr. President,
An arms race in space would pose grave dangers to international peace and security. The militarization of this environment is unacceptable. Outer space must be preserved as the common heritage of humanity.
Therefore, it is a priority for Cuba to adopt, as soon as possible, an international treaty that prevents and prohibits the manufacture, testing, deployment, and use of all types of weapons in space.
