Mr. President,

An arms race in space would pose grave dangers to international peace and security. The militarization of this environment is unacceptable. Outer space must be preserved as the common heritage of humanity.

Therefore, it is a priority for Cuba to adopt, as soon as possible, an international treaty that prevents and prohibits the manufacture, testing, deployment, and use of all types of weapons in space.

Cuba's First Deputy Minister of Communications, Ernesto Rodríguez Hernández, participated in the High-Level Roundtable during the Summit on Information Societies together with other ministers and deputy ministers of the sector at the global level.

In his speech, he reaffirmed the island's commitment to inclusive and sustainable digital development, highlighting the multiple efforts and challenges Cuba is facing on the road to digital transformation.
