GROUP OF FRIENDS IN DEFENSE OF THE UN CHARTER DENOUNCES IN HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL UNITED STATES CAMPAIGN AGAINST CUBAN MEDICAL COOPERATION

The Group of Friends in Defense of the Charter of the United Nations issued a statement today at the UN Human Rights Council, expressing deep gratitude and appreciation to Cuban health professionals for the high quality health care provided to millions of people around the world.

The 18 member countries of the Group denounced the dishonest campaign of the United States government to discredit Cuban medical cooperation and exert pressure on recipient governments, mostly developing countries.

GROUP OF COUNTRIES SPEAKS OUT AT THE UN HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL IN SUPPORT OF INTERNATIONAL MEDICAL COOPERATION AND AGAINST ITS OBSTRUCTION FOR POLITICAL REASONS.

A strong message was delivered today at the Human Rights Council by a group of 64 countries, which highlighted the fundamental role of international medical cooperation in the realisation of the human right to health and its contribution to saving the lives of millions of people around the world.

In Cuban schools and educational institutions, a comprehensive and intersectoral training system is being developed on gender equality and violence, sexual and reproductive rights, confronting discrimination in all its forms and manifestations, zero tolerance to drug trafficking and consumption, civic education, reporting cases of violence, abuse or bullying, among other aspects.

Cuban representative elected as Rapporteur for important World Health Organization program

Dr. Vivian Kourí, director of the Pedro Kourí Institute of Tropical Medicine, was elected today as Rapporteur for the 48th Meeting of the Joint Coordinating Board of the Special Program for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases, being held in this Swiss city.
