The Cuban Ambassador in Barbados, Yanet Stable Cárdenas, had the honor of being received on April 22 by Senator Hon. Shane Archer, Minister of State in the Office of the Prime Minister of Barbados with responsibility for Youth and Culture.
During the fruitful meeting, both parties reaffirmed their willingness to continue strengthening cultural ties between our sister nations, as well as the value and richness of Caribbean culture as a bridge of unity between our peoples.

On April 16, 1961, our Commander in Chief, Fidel Castro Ruz, proclaimed the socialist character of the Cuban Revolution in a historic speech, in which he reaffirmed the Cuban people's commitment to defending our sovereignty and social justice. This historic event took place at a critical moment, following the U.S. air attack on Cuban airports. This was the prelude to the mercenary invasion at Playa Girón, the first defeat of Yankee imperialism in Latin America.
