Victoria, October 27._ Cuban Ambassador Martha Hernández Caneiro and Minister Counselor Tomás Méndez Parra attended the inauguration of the new President of Seychelles, Dr. Patrick Herminie.
The swearing-in ceremony took place on Sunday, November 26, before thousands of people gathered at Stad Linite, the country's main stadium. This was the first time in the history of Seychelles that this ceremony was held outside the State House with popular participation.
On the morning of October 28, in Hanoi, the Cuban Embassy in Vietnam held a press conference to provide information about the country's submission of a draft resolution to the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), calling for an end to the economic, trade, and financial blockade imposed on Cuba.
Speaking at the press conference, Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Rogelio Polanco Fuentes stated that the discussion and voting on the resolution will take place on October 28-29 at the UN headquarters in New York. This marks the 34th time since 1992 that Cuba has submitted this resolution to the UNGA, and over the years, the draft has garnered widespread support from the international community. In 2024, a similar resolution was passed with 187 votes in favour and 2 against.
