Cuba Emphasizes the Role of Inclusive Sports and International Cooperation for Persons with Disabilities

New York, June 10, 2026 – Cuba’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Ernesto Soberón Guzmán, reaffirmed his country’s commitment to promoting sports as a tool for inclusion, equal opportunities, and international cooperation during the side event “Inclusive Sports Diplomacy: Building International Cooperation through the Experience of the Filippide Project – 20 Years after COSP,” held within the framework of the 19th Conference of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD).

Cuba reaffirms at the Security Council that peace in the Middle East depends on the full recognition of Palestine and respect for International Law.

New York, June 10, 2026. – The Permanent Representative of Cuba to the United Nations, Ambassador Ernesto Soberón Guzmán, reaffirmed today at the Security Council that just, ample and lasting peace in the Middle East will not be possible without a definitive solution to the Palestinian question that put an end to genocide and Israel’s illegal occupation of the Palestinian territories.

Cuban ambassador holds a fraternal meeting with a representative of the executive of the United Democratic Youth of Cyprus (EDON).

Nicosia, Cyprus, June 10, 2026. - The ambassador of the Republic of Cuba in Cyprus, Rubén Pino Martínez, held a fraternal meeting this Wednesday with Angelos Dimitriou, member of the executive of the United Democratic Youth Organization (EDON) of Cyprus, with a view to Cuba's upcoming participation in the Panchipriota Festival of the aforementioned youth organization in the coming July.

During the exchange, initiatives to be carried out as a prelude to the aforementioned annual youth and student event were outlined, including the Colloquium dedicated to the centenary of the birth of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz and to the political and social evolution in Cuba and the international and economic challenges the country faces today, led by the Cuban diplomat. The meeting will take place at the Erodos Café-Restaurant in Nicosia on June 17th at 8:00 PM.

The event also aims to pay tribute to the 38 years of continuous commitment and solidarity of the Cyprus-Cuba Friendship Association with the Caribbean island for its loyalty and unwavering support to its people and its revolution.
