The Institute of Tropical Medicine announces the 15th edition of the Dengue International Course

The Institute of Tropical Medicine, the PAHO/WHO Collaborating Center for the Study of Dengue and its Vector of the Institute of Tropical Medicine/MINSAP, the Cuban Society of Microbiology and Parasitology, the Cuban Ministry of Health and PAHO-WHO announces the 15th edition of the Dengue International Course, in this occasion facing Zika and Chikungunya to be held from 7th-18th August 2017.

Cuban Ambassador attends the swearing-in ceremony of the new Prime Minister of The Bahamas

LAS BAHAMAS, 12 May 2017. In the evening of 11 May, the Governor-General of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, Dame Marguerite Pindling, conducted the swearing-in ceremony of the new Prime Minister of The Bahamas, Honorable Dr. Hubert Minnis. Accompanied by government officials, members of Parliament, representatives of the Free National Movement (FNM) and constituents, the Prime Minister thanked the Bahamian people and their party for reposing their trust in him.

Kuusien istuttamista Suomen 100-vuotisen itsenäisyyden kunniaksi

Akkreditoiduille suurlähettiläille Suomi kokoontuivat Paloheinässä istuttamaan kuusia juhlistaakseen Suomen 100-vuotista itsenäisyyttä.

Vuonna 1917 eduskunta julisti valtion itsenäiseksi. Juhlistaakseen tapahtumaa, istutettiin kuusi. Tapahtuma tunnetaan ”Itsenäisyyden kuusi” –perinteenä, ja sanan alkuperä yhdistetään itsenäisyyteen. Kun Suomi juhli 50-vuotista itsenäisyyttään vuonna 1967, istutettiin kymmeniä tuhansia kuusia, ja vuoden 2017 aikana maan satavuotista itsenäisyyttä juhlistetaan yhtälailla istuttamalla kuusia.

Press Release: Despite the blockade, Cuba reiterates its commitment with multilateralism, strengthening and proper functioning of the United Nations.

New York, 11 May 2017. As part of the Second resumed session of the Fifth Committee, under item “Improving the financial situation of the United Nations”, the Deputy Permanent Representative of Cuba to the United Nations, Ambassador Ana Silvia Rodríguez Abascal considered today that the scope and complexity of the United Nations programs and operations, call for the political commitment of Member States and their willingness to finance the functions and activities of the Organization.
