TT Cubans remember Barbados bombing.

CUBANS living and working in Trinidad and Tobago recently joined with counterparts in their homeland to mourn and remember the lives of 73 passengers and crew members killed, 39 years ago, in the terrorist bombing of Cubana Flight 455 in neighbouring Barbados.

Cuba participates in the 5th UNESCO World Congress of Biosphere Reserves

Hangzhou, 22 September 2025. — From 22 to 25 September, Engineer Lázaro Márquez Llauger, Vice President of the Cuban MAB Committee and Director of the Guanahacabibes National Park, represents the Republic of Cuba at the 5th UNESCO World Congress of Biosphere Reserves. The congress, which brings together more than 2,000 experts, scientists, managers and government representatives, is being held in Hangzhou, China, with the aim of shaping the future of the World Network of Biosphere Reserves.

CDEMA is invited to participate on natural disasters workshop in Havana.

The Executive Director of the Caribbean Disaster Management Agency (CDEMA), Mr. Ronald Jackson, accepted the invitation by the Cuban Ambassador to Barbados, Francisco Fernandez, to designate a representative for the Workshop on Local Disaster Management, which be held in the Havana from 26 to 30 October. It thus complies with one of the agreements reached at the CARICOM-Cuba Summit to ensure that all member countries of the Community and its specialized agencies receive adequate training in this area.

Cuba grants four scholarships to Barbadian medical students.

Four Barbadian students who applied for scholarships to study medicine at the Latin American School and Caribbean Medicine (ELAM) as part of the program of existing bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the educational field traveled to Havana in the second half of August. The students selected this year were Kachell Tara Yearwood, Shakita Alexandra Morris, Thalayah Onika Butcher-Medford and Faith Gabriela Brome.
