Governor-General of Australia receives the Ambassador of Cuba
Canberra, 2 February, 2023. H.E. David Hurley, Governor-General of Australia, received the Cuban Ambassador, Ariel Lorenzo Rodriguez, who will soon be completing his diplomatic mission in this country.
The meeting took place in a cordial and respectful atmosphere, which favored the exchange of views on the main issues of the bilateral agenda and the potential for continued cooperation in various fields.
Tribute paid in Sydney to José Martí on the 170th anniversary of his birth

Last Saturday, January 28, the Cuban Ambassador to Australia, Ariel Lorenzo Rodríguez and the First Secretary of the Mission, Liuba Montano Rubio, accompanied by members of the Australia-Cuba Friendship Society in Sydney and Cuban collaborators of the Literacy Program “Yes, I Can”, paid a heartfelt tribute to the National Hero of Cuba on the 170th anniversary of his birth.
Statement of the 38th Australian Solidarity Brigade "Southern Cross"
Havana, 18 January, 2023. Members of the 38th Southern Cross Brigade have spent the past three weeks sharing in the experience of the Cuban people. Our stay has allowed us to more thoroughly understand the struggles and realities of everyday members of the Cuban Revolution, as well as the work of their representative organisations.
Our membership expresses the strongest possible solidarity with the Cuban people in the face of the systematic hostility of the US government and in Cuba’s ongoing fight to exert their sovereignty.
Southern Cross Brigade of Australia resumes its trip to Cuba in its 38th edition
Canberra, December 27, 2022. The Southern Cross Brigade will travel to Cuba from 29/12/2022 to 17/01/2023, after two years of not having taken place due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Brigade, in its 38th edition, will be made up of 15 members of the Cuba solidarity movement, who are traveling with the aim of getting to know the political, economic and social reality of the country, as well as learning a little more about its history.
Deputy Prime Minister of Australia receives the Cuban ambassador
Canberra, December 2, 2022- The Cuban ambassador, Mr. Ariel Lorenzo Rodríguez, was received by Richard Marles, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of Australia.
During the exchange, which took place in a cordial atmosphere, the positive state of bilateral relations, the cooperation in the multilateral field, and the opportunities to continue deepening ties in sectors such as biotechnology, health, renewable energies and education were highlighted.
Ambassador Lorenzo Rodríguez updated the Vice Prime Minister on the main issues related to Cuba.
