Cuba attends Latin American Film Festival Opening Ceremony in Ottawa
Ottawa, April 12, 2019.–The 23rd edition of the Ottawa Latin American Film Festival, organized by the Canadian Film Institute, was officially opened this Friday in the Alma Duncan room of the Art Gallery of the Canadian capital and will run until next May 1st.
In this edition, Cuba will present on Thursday, April 18, the film Nido de Mantis (Mantis´ Nest) with the presence of outstanding Cuban actor Luis Alberto García, one of the central characters of the film.
Cuban Ambassador to Canada Presents New Cuban Constitution at Canada´s Senate
Ottawa, April 9, 2019.- In a meeting organized at the Senate of Canada by the Honourable Senator Pierrette Ringuette, Co-Chair of the Canada-Cuba Parliamentary Friendship Group, Cuban Ambassador to Canada H.E. Josefina Vidal Ferreiro made a presentation on the newly approved Cuban Constitution.
Trump's Threat To Tighten U.S. Embargo On Cuba Could Hit Canadian Companies: Business Leaders
OTTAWA.- Business leaders are warning that the Trump administration's threat to tighten the U.S. embargo on Cuba could sideswipe Canadian companies that are doing business on the Caribbean island.
The Canadian Chamber of Commerce says it is worried that the United States could enact a never-before-used section of the 1996 Helms Burton Act that would allow Americans to sue foreign companies linked to Cuban properties that were confiscated after its 1959 revolution.
Cuban Ambassador to Canada Visits Queen’s University
Ottawa, March 14, 2019.- On Wednesday March 13, Ambassador of Cuba to Canada, Josefina Vidal Ferreiro, visited Queen’ s University in Kingston, Ontario. At this prestigious high education center, she was received by Dr. Tom Harris, Interim Provost and Vice-Principal (Academic), with whom she discussed the existing potentials to broaden the academic and research exchanges between Queen´s University and several Cuban universities.
