I thank Azerbaijan, the Chairman of the Non-Aligned Movement, for calling to this meeting to exchange on the urgent and needed efforts which allow us to face COVID-19.
DECLARATION, 4 May 2020
We, the Heads of State and Government, having met through video conference at the Online Summit level Meeting of the NAM Contact Group in response to Covid-19, under the theme of “United against COVID-19 pandemic” on 4 May 2020, upon the initiative of H.E. Mr. Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Chair of the Non-Aligned Movement, with a view to making an effective contribution to the global efforts in tackling the unprecedented effects of COVID-19 pandemic,
Kuba Respublikasının Prezidenti Migel Dias-Kanel Bermudes Qoşulmama Hərəkatının hazırki sədri Azərbaycan tərəfinin təşəbbüsü ilə çağırılan, Qoşulmama Hərəkatına üzv müxtəlif regionlardan olan nümayəndələrin daxil olduğu Təmas Qrupu formatında təşkil ediləcək “COVID-19-a qarşı birlikdəyik” mövzusunda virtual Zirvə Görüşündə iştirak edəcəkdir.
4 may tarixində Kuba vaxtı ilə 07.00-da videokonfrans vasitəsilə ilə baş tutacaq Görüş Azərbaycan Respublikasının Prezidenti İlham Əliyevin sədrliyi ilə keçiriləcək.
The President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, will participate in the Online Summit entitled "We stand together against COVID-19", convened by Azerbaijan in its capacity as Chair of the Non-Aligned Movement, in the format of a Contact Group, which comprises representatives from various regions making up the Movement.
The event, which will be held via videoconference on Monday, 4 May at 7 a.m. (Cuban local time), will be chaired by Azerbaijan´s President, Ilham Aliyev.

As the Ministry of Foreign Affairs timely informed, around 2 o’clock today, that is, in the early hours in the morning of today, Thursday, April 30, 2020, a terrorist attack was perpetrated against the embassy of the Republic of Cuba to the United States in Washington. An unidentified individual shot at the building of the Cuban embassy in the US using an assault rifle.
The Baki –Xeber newspaper “Baku –News” published the communiqué of the Azerbaijan-Cuba Friendship Society and signed by the president of the World Center for International Relations of Azerbaijan, Doctor of Philosophical Sciences and publicist, Yasif Nasirli, and the teacher and Artist Azerbaijani popular, Arif Huseynov, where the United States government blockade of Cuba is condemned.

One thousand 218 Cuban health professionals, integrated into 20 “Henry Reeve” medical brigades, have left for 19 nations in Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa and the Middle East, in the midst of the pandemic, to help contain those affected territories the spread of a virus, which we already know, will be won only with cooperation and solidarity.
