Egyptian media publish Revolutionary Government Declaration against new escalation of US economic blockade

The Egyptian websites of the newspapers Al Safir, the Hispanic-Arab League, Al Ameltanmya, Al Nahar Egypt, and El Mydan News published the full text of the Revolutionary Government's statement, which strongly rejects the US government's new escalation against Cuba in its efforts to impose a total blockade on fuel supplies to the island. In the US President's executive order, announced on January 29, 2026, he declares a supposed national emergency, by virtue of which his government will be able to impose trade tariffs on imports of products from countries that supply oil to Cuba.

Cuba condemns terrorism and reaffirms its cooperation in matters of security and the fight against money laundering

Cuba unequivocally condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, while reaffirming its commitment to cooperate with the United States and other nations to strengthen regional and international security.

Cuba categorically declares that it does not harbor, support, finance, or tolerate terrorist or extremist organizations. Our country upholds a zero-tolerance policy against the financing of terrorism and money laundering, and is committed to the prevention, detection, and confrontation of illicit financial activities, consistent with international standards.

Secretary General of the League of Arab States receives Cuban Ambassador

Cairo, January 28, 2026. The Secretary General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, received the Cuban Ambassador to Egypt, Alexander Pellicer Moraga, at the organization's headquarters in this capital.

During the cordial meeting, they discussed the situation in Cuba and the Middle East in light of the dangerous scenarios that are looming. The Cuban diplomat updated the head of the Arab League on the difficult situation facing the island due to the intensification of the blockade and the irrational and illegal persecution of fuel shipments to Cuba, which are essential for electricity generation and the normal functioning of the country's economy.

Egyptian newspaper condemns US threats against Cuba

Cairo, January 19, 2026. The Egyptian newspaper Al Ahram today criticized US threats against Cuba, following the aggression against Venezuela and the kidnapping of its president Nicolás Maduro.

For years, officials in Washington have predicted the imminent end of the Cuban revolutionary government since its victory in 1959, which has not happened and will not happen, journalist Kamal Gaballa said in an opinion piece.
