Egyptian Press Reports African Union Support for Cuba in its Fight Against the US Blockade
Cairo, February 17, 2026. More than half a dozen Egyptian newspapers reported on their websites the African Union's support for Cuba in its fight against the blockade and the new sanctions imposed by the United States government on the Cuban people.
The reports state that the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU) approved, for the 17th consecutive time, a resolution on February 15 condemning the US economic, commercial, and financial blockade against Cuba.
Al-WAFD Party of Egypt Expresses Solidarity with Cuba and Rejects Any Unilateral Measures Affecting the Sovereignty and Rights of States
Cairo, February 16, 2026. The Al-WAFD Party of Egypt sent a letter to the Cuban Ambassador, Alexander Pellicer Moraga, expressing its solidarity with the island and condemning any unilateral measures that affect the sovereignty of states and the rights of peoples.
In the letter, the Party's Foreign Relations Committee expressed its full solidarity with the call to defend peace and respect for international law, and its absolute rejection of any violation of international law, international treaties and norms, as well as interference in the internal affairs of states. The Committee emphasized the need to preserve the unity, territorial integrity, and independence of all countries.

Medhat El-Zahed, leader of the Popular Socialist Alliance Party, announced the party's full solidarity with the Republic of Cuba in the face of the latest US escalation, which reflects the continuation of the blockade and economic pressure policy outside the bounds of international law.
El-Zahed stated that the recent decisions by the US government, which seek to tighten economic restrictions and impose extraterritorial measures on countries that trade with Cuba, represent a clear violation of the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations, and an infringement upon the sovereignty of states and their national independence in decision-making.
Egyptian Deputy Foreign Minister receives Cuban Ambassador
Cairo, February 10, 2026. The Cuban Ambassador to Egypt, Alexander Pellicer Moraga, held a friendly meeting with Ambassador Khaled Azmi, Deputy Minister for the Americas at the Egyptian Foreign Ministry. The Cuban diplomat updated the Deputy Foreign Minister on the complex situation in Cuba, due to the intensification of the blockade and the new measures implemented by the White House to cut off oil supplies to the island.
