72 UNGA: Statement by the Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment of Cuba, Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz. General Debate of the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development. New York, July 17, 2018.

Madam Chair,

Cuba associates itself with the statements delivered by the delegations of Egypt on behalf of the G77 and China, El Salvador on behalf of CELAC and Maldives on behalf of AOSIS.

Three years after the adoption of the 2030 Agenda, inequality and polarization in the world persist and are even worsening. Opulence and the concentration of income and wealth in developed countries are in stark contrast to the underdevelopment and poverty to which two thirds of the world's population are subjected.

G77 and Regional Commissions High-Level Roundtable on Technology and Innovation for Sustainable Development: regional experiences to promote youth employment and address inequality. 17 July 2018. Conference Room 4, UNHQ Conference Building.

Distinguished participants,

Technological evolution and its accelerated development, exceeding limits that a few years ago were reserved for science fiction, entails a radical economic, social, political, cultural, biological and cognitive transformation for humanity.

72 UNGA: Statement by Ambassador Mrs. Anayansi Rodríguez Camejo, Permanent Representative of Cuba to the United Nations in the Decolonization Committee. Subject: The Question of Puerto Rico. New York, 18 June 2018.

Mr. Chairman,

This Committee is honored to have Oscar López Rivera once again among us, who is a fighter against colonialism, for the self-determination and independence of his people, and represents the resistance, nobility, pride and courage of the Puerto Rican people. Imprisonment for more than 35 years in U.S. jails could not bend this man of great stature for his dignity and dedication to his homeland: Puerto Rico.
