Statement by Miguel M. Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, president of the Republic of Cuba, at the videoconference of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council

His Excellency Mr. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

Excellencies, Heads of Delegations of the countries member of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council;

I extend my sincere thanks for the invitation conveyed by Kazakhstan, in its condition as President Pro Tempore of the Eurasian Economic Union, to participate in this important meeting, the first I have the honor to attend, after the approval of the Observer status for my country on December 11, 2020.

Cuba condemns Israel’s criminal aggression against the Palestinian people

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba condemns in the strongest possible terms the attack on the Al-Aqsa mosque in occupied Jerusalem and the indiscriminate bombings against the Palestinian people living in the Gaza Strip by Israel’s military forces, which have caused more than one hundred deadly casualties, the destruction of infrastructure and heavy economic damage.

Mr. Chairman, I bring you greetings from the Government and people of Grenada.

I am pleased to be participating in this 21st Meeting of the ALBA-TCP Political Council.

 

Mr. Chairman, we are meeting in very challenging times as we grapple with COVID-19.

Let me first express my Government’s deepest appreciation to the Government of Cuba for providing us with the medical personnel to help deal with COVID-19.  This is a sign of genuine friendship and commitment.
