Statement by Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba, on behalf of the G77 and China at the Ministerial Meeting on the Summit of the Future

Mr. President,

Distinguished Ministers:

I have the honor to deliver this statement on behalf of the Group of 77 and China.

Our planet is living through the most complex times of all. The post-pandemic world has become a more divided, unjust and unequal place, particularly as multidimensional crises, has a huge impact and affect particularly developing countries. The situation demands an innovative approach if we wish to protect the interests of current and future generations.

Speech by the President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, in the general debate at the 78th session of the UN General Assembly. New York, Tuesday September 19, 2023

Mr President,

Mr Secretary-General,

Your excellencies,

I bring to this Assembly the voice of the South, that of the “exploited and humiliated” to quote Che Guevara in this very room almost 60 years ago.

Diverse peoples with problems in common - as we have just confirmed in Havana, which was honored to host a summit of leaders and other high representatives of the Group of 77 and China, the most representative, broadly-based and diverse assemblage of nations in the multilateral sphere.

Statement by the President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez on behalf of the G77 at the Summit on the Sustainable Development Goals

(New York, 18 September 2023)

Mr. President,

I have the honor to speak on behalf of the Group of 77 and China.

This mid-term review of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is taking place at a time of extremely critical juncture, in which developing countries face multiple challenges and an unjust economic order that perpetuates inequalities and poverty.

The reports prepared by the Secretary General contain undisputable figures that portray a rather somber reality. Even before the COVID-19 pandemic the word was already off track to meet the SDGs.
