Cuba and Fiji Strengthen Educational Ties

Suva, June 16, 2026 – The Cuban Ambassador to Fiji, Néstor Torres Olivera, was received by the Minister of Education of this Pacific nation, Hon. Aseri Radrodro, at the headquarters of that government institution. During the cordial meeting, both parties reaffirmed the positive state of bilateral relations and agreed on their mutual desire to strengthen cooperation in the educational field.

Today, he proudly practices medicine in his homeland, having graduated with honors from Cuba and recently completed his postgraduate training.

Cuban ambassador presents courtesy copies to Tuvalu's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Labor, and Trade

Suva, June 10, 2026.- Cuban Ambassador, Néstor Torres Olivera, presented to the Honorable Paulson Panapa, Tuvalu’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Labor, and Trade, the copies of his Letters of Credence, accrediting him as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to Tuvalu. The ceremony took place at the offices of the High Commissioner of Tuvalu in Fiji. 

The meeting focused on reviewing bilateral and multilateral issues while commemorating the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Cuba and Tuvalu, which began on April 26, 2006.

Cuba Denounces US Doctrine of "Peace Through Strength" 

Harare, June 8, 2026 – Cuba today denounced the doctrine of "peace through strength," promoted by the United States government, as a violation of the UN Charter and International Law.

Speaking during the general debate of the 4th meeting of the Group of Friends in Defense of the UN Charter (GADC), Deputy Foreign Minister Elio Rodríguez Perdomo warned that in the very complex scenario facing several of its members, including Cuba, the United States is disregarding the value of the United Nations and multilateralism.

UN Human Rights Chief Urges Lifting of U.S. Coercive Measures Against Cuba

Geneva, June 8, 2026.- United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk called on Monday for the immediate lifting of the sanctions imposed by the United States against Cuba, warning that their expansion is causing serious humanitarian consequences and endangering the lives of the Cuban people.
