The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba learned today, September 18, through the press, of the surprising statement made by the Costa Rican Foreign Minister, Manuel Tovar Rivera, to the Miami Herald, that “diplomatic relations have been severed” with Cuba, a fact that has never been formally notified by the authorities of that country to the Cuban government.

Zimbabwe Anti-Sanctions Trust supports BRICS stance against blockade of Cuba

Harare, September 17, 2026 – The Zimbabwe Anti-Sanctions Trust (ZAST) today highlighted the inclusion of a statement opposing the blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba in the Declaration of the BRICS Summit held in New Delhi, India, on September 12.

ZAST stated that it welcomes and firmly supports the position expressed by BRICS leaders, who voiced deep concern regarding the tightening of blockade measures against the Caribbean island and the documented effects on its economy, energy supply, and humanitarian situation.

Harare, August 13, 2026 – The National Commissar of the Zimbabwe African National Union – Patriotic Front (ZANU PF), Munyaradzi Machacha, today conveyed a message to Cuba from President Emmerson Mnangagwa on the occasion of the Centenary of the Historical Leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz.

 

While attending the commemoration at the Cuban Residence in Harare, Machacha asked Ambassador Susellys Pérez Mesa to convey Mnangagwa’s warmest and most fraternal greetings to his counterpart, Miguel Díaz-Canel, and to all the people of the Caribbean nation.
