Montreal, May 30, 2019.- On Thursday May 29, Cuban Ambassador to Canada, H.E. Josefina Vidal, payed a working visit to Radio Canada, a Montreal-based French-language radio and television station.

Ambassador Vidal met with RC Executive Director of News and Current Affairs, Ms. Luce Julien, who was accompanied by her team members Mr. Frédéric Vanasse, RDI Director of Continued Information; Ginette Viens, RC Senior Director of Journalism and Programming; and journalists Jean Michel Leprince, Martín Movilla and Luc Chartrand.

They explored the existing prospects for cooperation with Cuba and discussed how to strengthen the links between the francophone news channel and the diplomatic mission of Cuba in Canada.

As part of his intensive program of work in Europe, the Hero of the Republic of Cuba, Fernando González Llort, President of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with Peoples (ICAP, by its Spanish initials) and Member of the National Assembly of the People's Power, held a fruitful meeting with the President of the Slovenian-Cuban Friendship Association, Igor Jurisic, and other members of that solidarity organization.

The Ambassador of Cuba in Egypt, Tania Aguiar Fernandez was invited by Naser Kanani, Ambassador of Iran in Egypt, to participate in the Iftar held on the occasion of Al-Quds Day, which takes place on the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan.

The Hero of the Republic of Cuba, Fernando González Llort, President of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP, by its Spanish initials) and Member of the National Assembly of the People´s Power arrived in Austria, to participate in the celebration of the 50th anniversary of “ÖKG”, Austria-Cuba Friendship Association.

In the context of the 72nd Assembly of the World Health Organization, in Geneva, the Minister of Public Health of the Republic of Cuba, Dr. José Ángel Portal Miranda, and the Minister of Health of the Republic of Maldives, Mr. Abdulla Ameen, signed a Memorandum of Understanding, which reflects the interest of both parties to strengthen bilateral relations of cooperation in the health sector.

Both Ministers exchanged about the next steps to be taken in order to implement the MOU signed during this bilateral meeting.

With participation in the commemorative events for the National Day of Georgia, exchanges with the President of this nation, Salome Zurabishvili, the Prime Minister, Mamuka Bakhtadze, and bilateral meetings in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Parliament, the working visit of the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba, Alfredo Nieves Portuondo, to this Caucasian nation was developed.

Ottawa, May 28, 2019.- On Tuesday morning, a Symposium on Cuba was held at the Federal Canadian Parliament, under the auspices of the Hon. Senator Ringuette Pierrette and T.J. Harvey, MP, Co-Chairs of the Canada-Cuba Parliamentary Friendship Group, by initiative of the Canadian Network on Cuba.

Kingston, Jamaica, 29 May 2019. The Ambassador of Cuba in Jamaica, Mrs. Inés Fors Fernández, paid a courtesy call on the Ministry of Finance and Public Service of Jamaica, where she was received by the Member of Parliament and holder of that portfolio, Honourable Dr. Nigel Clarke.

New York, 29 May 2019. Cuba participated today in the General Assembly debate on Intergovernmental Negotiations on Security Council Reform, where it reiterated that only through debate, in the established time and frameworks, will it be possible to define a path towards a consensus in relation to this reform, on which there are deep disagreements among the delegations.

The vice president of the Committee on Education, Science and Culture of the Parliament of Georgia and president of the Group of Friendship with Cuba, deputy Guguli Magradze, reiterated the solidarity and friendship of her people with the Cuban nation, receiving in Tbilisi the ambassador of the Republic of Cuba in this Caucasian nation, Alfredo Nieves Portuondo.

The parliamentarian expressed her satisfaction at periodically maintaining contacts with the Cuban mission and considered it very important to strengthen ties with the Island's counterparts.
