The current U.S. government, commanded by President Donald Trump, continues to threaten the brave Cuban people with its dirty and petty policies, this time  with the activation of the infamous Title III of the Helms-Burton Law.

In light of the recent measures, announced by the United States, the Twenty-second Meeting of the Council for Foreign and Community relations (COFCOR), agreed to issue the statement, attached to the official Communiqué of its 22nd meeting (May 13-14 in Granada), in which it reiterates the firm support of the Community for the lifting of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba.

STATEMENT ON THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF NEW MEASURES

Voices around the world condemn new U.S. sanctions on Cuba, in particular the recent activation of the Helms-Burton Act’s Title III. The government of Mexico reiterated its rejection of the re-activation of this stipulation in violation of international law, and reaffirmed its commitment to legally protect Mexican companies that may be affected.

The Counselor of the Embassy of Cuba, Dennis Casares Benítez, and the Third Secretary, Jorge Mazón Rodriguez, held a pleasant meeting with journalists Nabil Al-Sajini and Ashraf Abo El Soud, from the prestigious Al Ahram newspaper, where they talked about the current Cuban news, the strengthening of the measures of the blockade by the United States and bilateral relations between Cuba and Egypt.

At the end of the meeting, the journalists organized a tour to the newsroom of the newspaper and other places of interest within its headquarters.

The Minister for Health, Mr. Kwaku Agyeman Manu, chaired the farewell to a group of Ghanaian students, among whom one hundred and seventy will be trained as new doctors, and thirty will study different postgraduate specialties. Among the latter, nine doctors trained in Cuba stand out.

Helsinki, May 14th, 2019 – The First Deputy Foreign Minister of Cuba, Marcelino Medina González, was received this Tuesday in the headquarters of the Finish Ministry of Foreign Affairs by Matti Anttonen, Permanent State Secretary for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland, on the occasion of the visit of the Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister to this European country.

Athens, May 14. The Ambassador of Cuba in Greece Zelmys Maria Dominguez Cortina gave a lecture about the Cuban revolution, historical background and current situation, to students of various levels of Spanish at the headquarters of the Hellenic Cuban Friendship Association.
