The PNP is concerned about the increased US sanctions on Cuba and their effect on the Caribbean.

Kingston, Jamaica, 15 May 2019: The People’s National Party (PNP) is expressing grave concern about the increased economic sanctions on Cuba imposed by the United States authorities. The Party is again calling for an end to the 60 year old blockade against the sovereign nation.

The PNP’s renewed call comes after the decision of the US government to impose Title III of the Helms-Burton Act which has the effect of tightening sanctions, causing the reintroduction of rationing of food and other supplies and unleashing untold suffering on the Cuban people.

International Seminar for Peace and Abolition of Foreign Military Bases Concluded in Cuba

In light of the recent measures, announced by the United States, the Twenty-second Meeting of the Council for Foreign and Community relations (COFCOR), agreed to issue the statement, attached to the official Communiqué of its 22nd meeting (May 13-14 in Granada), in which it reiterates the firm support of the Community for the lifting of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba.

Meeting with journalists from Al Ahram newspaper

The Counselor of the Embassy of Cuba, Dennis Casares Benítez, and the Third Secretary, Jorge Mazón Rodriguez, held a pleasant meeting with journalists Nabil Al-Sajini and Ashraf Abo El Soud, from the prestigious Al Ahram newspaper, where they talked about the current Cuban news, the strengthening of the measures of the blockade by the United States and bilateral relations between Cuba and Egypt.

At the end of the meeting, the journalists organized a tour to the newsroom of the newspaper and other places of interest within its headquarters.
