New York, 8 May 2017. Cuba outlined its considerations regarding regional representation, widening of its membership and member category, in consultations on intergovernmental negotiations on Security Council reform.
On May 8, at the Memorial to the Norwegian Sailors Fallen during World Wars I and II located, since 1926, in the coastal town of Stavern, four new memorial plaques were unveiled to honor foreign sailors killed on Norwegian ships during the second world conflagration. One of them was the Cuban JOSÉ LINO ORAMAS, born in 1909 in the city of Matanzas, who joined the Norwegian Merchant Navy on a date undetermined. He worked as a galley boy aboard the Norwegian freighter "Bonneville".
After 10 days, the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival concluded on May 7, one of the most important music festivals in the United States, which featured Cuba as the invited country in its 48th edition.
