Cuba successfully concluded its administration today as the head of the pro tempore presidency of the Association of Caribbean States (AEC), said today Deputy Foreign Minister Rogelio Sierra.
At the end of the XXII Ordinary Meeting of the Council of Ministers of the bloc, Sierra said that the island had an intense activity, aimed at revitalizing the operation of the Association, fulfilling the mandate it received last year at the Havana Summit.
Distinguished delegates and special guests and other representatives of the delegations present: Cuba welcomes you to the XXII Ordinary Meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Association of Caribbean States, at which time the Caribbean countries meet again in Havana to Dialogue about our common interests and the risks we face in a shared way. We will review the progress of the implementation of the agreements of the VII Summit of the Association, held in Havana on June 4, 2016.
Cuban President Raúl Castro attends the opening of the XXII Ordinary Meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Association of Caribbean States (AEC), which takes place in this capital. In the meeting, foreign ministers and high-ranking representatives of the member countries of the regional mechanism for consultation, cooperation and concerted action, will evaluate the management of Cuba at the head of this body.

CUBA, March 10, 2017 .- The official photo of the twenty second Ordinary Meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS), held in Cuba, was taken in front of the famous ‘El carro de la Revolución’ Mural located on the first floor of the Habana Libre Tryp hotel, in the populated Havana’s Vedado neighborhood.
The emblematic work is allegorical to the Cuban Revolution it is composed of 555 hand-made independent pottery parts and then assembled in 1973 in its current location. Its author, the outstanding painter and ceramist Alfredo Sosabravo is one of the 20th century Cuban art avant-garde artists, and he is a National Plastic Arts Prizewinner.
The twenty second Association of Caribbean States Ordinary Meeting of the Council of Ministers, inaugurated in the presence of Cuba’s President Raúl Castro Ruz, has confirmed the steady process of strengthening and dynamism the ACS has been displaying, especially after the 7th Summit, held in June 2016 in Havana, as a space for concerted actions, cooperation and peace for the region. HAVANA, March 10, 2017. – The Association of Caribbean States (ACS) Secretary General June Soomer called the member states of the association to regroup, develop strategies and move forward. The meeting, in which Cuba will transfer the ACS pro tempore presidency to Venezuela, is taking place at the Habana Libre Tryp hotel of Havana.
Dr. Soomer thanked her ratification as Secretary General of the Association. She said that she will promote good human relations and the excellence to work like a team, and she said that she will give the ACS visibility, since her purpose is to make the people and the governments know the organization.
The ACS Secretary General began her address paying tribute to the former President of Haiti René Preval. She said that the ACS joins the peoples and the governments of the Caribbean to express the deepest condolences for the decease of that great son President Preval was. (Cubaminrex)
Last March 10, the Latin American Ambassadors in Athens had a meeting with the Director of the National Observatory of Athens (NOA) Dr. Manolis Plionis , at the visitors centre in Pentelli , where is located the Newall telescope and its Dome. The Observatory has 3 research centres that are: Institute for Astronomy, Astrophysics, Space Aplications and Remote Sensing; Institute of Environmental Research and Sustainable Development and the Institute of Geodynamics.
