Cuba has joined Venezuela in celebrating its 206th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and the 55th anniversary of the Playa Girón´s Victory in Cuba, both on April 19th. A special ceremony was held at the Venezuelan Embassy where wreaths were laid by the Ambassadors of these sister nations, José Gómez and Francisco Fernández, accompanied by officers and officials of both diplomatic missions in Barbados.
In the framework of the activity in which the Cuban Embassy, Vincentian authorities and the Cuban collaborators, commemorated the 55th anniversary of the Victory of Girón, the Association of Cubans residents in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines issued a combative statement, which concerns the recent celebration of the anniversaries of the UJC and the Organization of pioneers José Martí. It welcomed the successful celebration of the VII Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba and supports the resolutions adopted by the event.
Sectors of the right wing representing the oligarchy, in alliance with the reactionary press in Brazil, openly supported by the corporate media and imperialism, have consummated in the country’s House of Deputies the first step in what constitutes a parliamentary coup d’etat against the legitimate government of the Workers’ Party (PT) and President Dilma Rousseff, which has been in the works for several months.
On the morning of Wednesday an exchange took place between the Chargé d'Affaires of Cuba in Liberia, Yordenis Despaigne Vera and Mr. Oluremi Sogunro, Representative of the United Nations Population Fund, based in Monrovia. The meeting took place at the Fund's headquarters, located in the Liberian capital.
Wellington, 13 April 2016.-In a meeting held this morning at the Beehive, the Minister for Local Government, Peseta Sam Lotu-Iiga, expressed to the Ambassador of Cuba, Mario Alzugaray, his appreciation for Cuba´s cooperation projects with the Pacific Islands. Also in charge of the ministries of the Pacific People and Ethnic Communities, Lotu-Iiga confirmed he was aware of the experience of some Pacific Islands young fellows, who graduated from medical careers in Cuba and the valuable contribution made to raise the standard of health services in their countries.
INDIA, April 12sd, 2016.- The Ambassador of Cuba in India, Oscar I. Martínez Cordovés, held a meeting whit the Joint Secretary UNES (Economic and Social Affairs United Nations) Puneet Agrawal, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In the occasion, they examined issues related to the successful and growing cooperation in multilateral affairs that has existed between both countries for 56 years, and other international relations matters.
In the afternoon of Monday, the meeting was attended by the Chargé d'Affaires of Cuba in Liberia, Yordenis Despaigne Vera and Mr. Lewis G. Brown II, appointed Ambassador of Liberia to the United Nations, concurrently before the Cuban State. The meeting took place at the headquarters of the Liberian chancellery, located in the capital.
