Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee at New Zealand Parliament favours greater links with Cuba

Wellington, May 10th, 2016.-The Chairman of the Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade Committee at New Zealand Parliament, Mark Mitchell, expressed his interest in Cuba and his willingness to boost ties between the two countries. During a meeting held at Parliament House with the Ambassador of Cuba, Mario Alzugaray, New Zealand politician also express his favourable approach in promoting an exchange with the members of the Committee he leads, in order to learn about the current status of the Caribbean island and examine opportunities for the development of bilateral relations.

The Caribbean Arts Festival (Carifesta) returns to Barbados in 2017. In order to renew the presence of the House of the Americas in this Caribbean country, the institution of the Comanche David Comissiong, president of the Movement Clement Payne of Barbados, who was received by the poet and essayist Roberto Fernandez Retamar, president of the House.

The Minister of State for External Affairs of India received the Ambassador of Cuba

India, May 3th, 2016. The Minister of State for External Affairs of India General (Retdo.) V. K. Singh, welcomed the Ambassador of Cuba Oscar Martinez Cordovés in his office,  at the Ministry of External Affairs headquarters.

During the cordial meeting the parties discussed issues of the bilateral agenda and international relations, highlighting the traditional ties that have been developed between the two countries for 56 years.

Barbados joint trade union delegation attending the May Day in Cuba.

Responding to an invitation by the Workers' Central Union of Cuba (CTC) and its national unions for several organizations Barbadian labor movement, a representative delegation of the NUPW (National Union Public Workers) and BSTU (Barbados Secondary Teachers Union) attended the May Day international celebration in Havana, which included a massive march in parade of about a million population and witness the ceremony from the presidential platform in the historical Revolution Square.

Barbados-Cuba Friendship Association attended the May Day in Cuba.

Complying with the invitation by Cuban political and union organizations, a group of historical friends of the Cuban Revolution participated in the celebrations of May Day in Havana and in the traditional International Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba, as part of an intense program exchange activities that Barbados-Cuba Friendship Association shared with several agencies and entities of society in the greatest Antilles` island.
