Cuban Ambassador exchanges with Director of the Section for UN Policy of the Norwegian Foreign Ministry

Oslo, October 19, 2023.  Meena Syed, recently appointed as the new director of the Section for UN Policy, Department for Multilateral Affairs, of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, received the Cuban ambassador, Maité Rivero Torres.

The Ambassador expressed interest in continuing the positive working relations maintained up to now with the UN Section, which have been consistent with the cooperation existing between the two countries in the multilateral arena, particularly at the United Nations.

A heartfelt tribute to Che in Norway on the occasion of the 56th anniversary of his fall in combat

Oslo, October 18, 2023. Members of the Norway-Cuba Friendship Association and the Communist Party of Norway, as well as Cubans and Latin Americans settled in this country, diplomats from the sister Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, and friends in general, took part in a political-cultural event held in this city to pay tribute to Ernesto Che Guevara, on the occasion of the 56th anniversary of his fall in combat.

Cuban Ambassador takes part in a meeting of GRULAC with the Director for Latin America and the Caribbean of the Norwegian Foreign Ministry

Oslo, October 17, 2023. The Ambassador, Maité Rivero Torres, took part in a meeting of the Latin American and Caribbean Group (GRULAC) with Anne Heidi Kvalsøren and Eugenia Millaray Tapia, director and deputy director, respectively, of the Section for Latin America and the Caribbean of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs .

In a cordial atmosphere, the state of Norway's relations with the region and the existing potential for its expansion and development were extensively addressed.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba reiterates its deep concern about the escalation of violence between Israel and Palestine, which is a consequence of decades of Israeli illegal occupation and colonization practices, in flagrant violation of the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people in its own territory, as well as the long-lasting disregard of the Purposes and Principles of the United Nations Charter and International Law, including numerous relevant UN resolutions.

Cuba elected to the UN Human Rights Council

Havana, October 10, 2023.- Cuba was elected, for the sixth time, to the Human Rights Council, in recognition of the prestige achieved by the country in the work of the Council.

With the secret, direct and individual vote of 146 Member States of the United Nations General Assembly, Cuba was the country scoring the highest number of votes in the region, which ratifies the recognition of the international community to the significant progress made by the country in the enjoyment of all human rights for all people is ratified.
