Second International Meeting of Theoretical Publications of Left Parties and Movements meets in Havana with the presence of the Editor-in-Chief of the Norwegian newspaper FRIHETEN

Oslo, February 14, 2024. With a call for unity, the fight for peace and the people's solidarity against imperialist aggression, the 2nd International Meeting of Theoretical Publications of Left Parties and Movements is taking place in Havana.

The event brings together 100 intellectuals, personalities, thinkers and academics from 37 countries, together with their Cuban colleagues, to debate the current challenges faced by progressive forces and agree on common strategies of action against the resurgence of fascism and the violent capitalist onslaught.

Statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba

On February 14, 2024, the diplomatic and consular relations between the Republic of Cuba and the Republic of Korea were established through an exchange of Diplomatic Notes between the Permanent Representations of both countries to the United Nations in New York. 

The establishment of official relations between the two countries was carried out in conformity with the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations, the International Law and in accordance with the spirit and norms established in the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of April 18, 1961. 

Norwegian newspaper FRIHETEN will be at the II International Meeting of Theoretical Publications of Left-wing Parties and Movements, to be held in Havana

Oslo, February 6, 2024. The ambassador, Maité Rivero Torres, received Odd-Jarl Gerhardsen, editor-in-chief of "Friheten", the newspaper of the Communist Party of Norway (NKP), prior to his departure for Havana to take part in the II International Meeting of Theoretical Publications of Left-wing Parties and Movements, which will take place from February 12 to 14.

Gerhardsen was present at the first edition, which was held last year also in the Cuban capital.

Cubans living in Norway receive information about the IV Conference on Nation and Emigration

Oslo, February 5, 2024. The Cuban ambassador to Norway, Maité Rivero Torres, and the second secretary of the Embassy in charge of Consular Affairs, Daffne Ernesto Mirabal García, met with a group of Cubans living in this country to share information of interest about the IV Conference on Nation and Emigration, which took place in Havana on November 18 and 19, 2023.

Farewell to a young Norwegian who will study Medicine in Cuba

Oslo, January 31st. 2024. With great joy the Ambassador, Maité RIvero Torres, and the Second Secretary of the Embassy in charge of Consular Affairs,Daffne Ernesto Mirabal García, bid farewell to Ángela Rosa Herrera Trocones, a young Norwegian who will soon leave for Cuba to study Medicine at the University of Medical Sciences of the province of Sancti Spíritus under the self-financed programme.

Angela is the daughter of Milagros Trocones Sotolongo, a Cuban who has lived in Norway for years.

The Cuban diplomats wished her success in the studies and a pleasant stay in Cuba.
