Cuba reiterates its commitment to nuclear disarmament

Cuba stressed Tuesday that the complete elimination of nuclear weapons in a transparent,  verifiable, and irreversible way is and must continue to be a top disarmament priority.

Cuban Foreign Minister made that statement in Vienna at the First Meeting of States Parties to the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons.

Cuban Ambassador participates in the commemoration of the Seychelles Constitution Day.

Victoria, 18 June._The Cuban Ambassador in Seychelles participated on Saturday in the annual flag-raising ceremony held every June 18 at the "Lavwa Lanasyon" monument in Mahé, the main island of the African archipelago to commemorate the Constitution Day, adopted by referendum in 1993.

The ceremony was presided over by the President of Seychelles, Wavel Ramkalawan, and was attended by senior government officials, representatives of the judiciary and the National Assembly, as well as the diplomatic corps accredited to Victoria.

The Cuban Embassy in Seychelles participated in the reception hosted by the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Seychelles on the occasion of the celebration of its National Day.

The celebration was presided over by Artyon Kozhim, Russian Ambassador to Victoria and the Seychelles Minister of Education, Dr. Justin Valentin. In their speeches both highlighted the importance of their bilateral ties, particularly cooperation in the areas of tourism and education. Russia is currently the main emitter of tourism to the islands that make up the African archipelago.

The Cuban Embassy in Seychelles was present at the inauguration of the statue that pays tribute to the Indian leader Mahatma Gandhi in the Peace Park, in front of the Freedom Square in the city of Victoria.

In a brief but moving ceremony, the bronze statue was unveiled by the High Commissioner of India, General (Retd.) Dalbir Singh Suhag, who concluded with this activity his mission to Seychelles, and the Seychelles Minister of Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Sylvestre Radegonde.

Cuban president sends message of solidarity to People's Summit

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel thanked the participants in the Peoples' Summit for their solidarity with the countries excluded from a regional meeting called by the United States.

In a video message sent on Friday to the event hosted by progressive organizations in parallel to the IX Summit of the Americas, the President said that solidarity caused the Summit not to be what its sponsors intended.

Solidarity is not only an inseparable principle of revolutionary practice. He said it is the most formidable weapon for those of us who believe in the power of the masses.
