Tribute to a true ambassador
Pretoria, August 27, 2020.- Cuba and South Africa formally established diplomatic relations on May 11, 1994, just one day after Nelson Mandela´s inauguration as President.
In fact, Cuba was the first country that a liberated South Africa recognized diplomatically and the first in which South Africa established a new embassy after the end of Apartheid.
Cuban Medical Brigade arrived to Eswatini to assist against COVID19
Pretoria, August 20, 2020.- A Brigade of 19 Cuban doctors arrived today in the Kingdom of Eswatini, at the request of the government of that African country, to assist in the current health emergency caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
Among the professionals who have just arrived from the Island, after a transit through South Africa, include specialists in comprehensive general medicine, epidemiology, microbiology, intensivists, clinicians, and others.
Cuban water resources cooperators arrive in South Africa
Pretoria, August 19, 2020.- Today 23 Cuban specialists from the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources arrived in South Africa, at the request of the government of this sister African country to assist in the more effective exploitation of water resources and in the maintenance and sanitation infrastructure.; as well as in the development of capacities through the training and support of local personnel, to jointly solve the challenges in water and sanitation that South Africa faces today.
Cuban Medical Brigade “Henry Reeve” received in South Africa in transit to Eswatini
Pretoria, August 19, 2020.- The Cuban Medical Brigade of the International Contingent of Doctors Specialized in Disasters and Serious Pandemics "Henry Reeve", which at the request of the government of that country will assist the Kingdom of Eswatini in the fight against COVID-19, arrived on the night of August 18 to South Africa as part of your travel transit.

Pretoria, August 14, 2020.- The South African Minister of Health Dr. Zwelini Mkhize, and the Cuban Ambassador Rodolfo Benítez Verson, held a virtual meeting with a representation of Cuban doctors from the Henry Reeve Brigade deployed in the provinces of Gauteng, Eastern Cape, Kwa Zulu-Natal and Western Cape.
The Minister thanked, on behalf of the South African government and people, the important contribution that Cuban professionals are making to national efforts to combat COVID-19.
