Gathering at the Presidential House of Sri Lanka in tribute to Fidel

SRI LANKA, December 2, 2016. - Convened by the President of Sri Lanka, His Excellency Maithripala Sirisena, a solemn gathering took place at the headquarters of the Presidential House, in homage to the Leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz.

In his statement, the President highlighted the revolutionary trajectory of Fidel, his firmness in the fight against imperialism and in favor of just causes. He said that since he was young he had admired him and remembered his visit to Cuba in 1978, on the occasion of the Festival of Youth and Students.

New Ambassador of Cuba presents Credentials

SRI LANKA, December 1, 2016. - The new Ambassador of Cuba, Juana Elena Ramos Rodríguez, presented today her Credentials to the His Excellency Maithripala Sirisena, President of Sri Lanka.

The President also expressed his condolences for the death of Cuban leader Fidel Castro Ruz, to the Ambassador and recalled his memories of the emblematic revolutionary of the 20th century.

Prime Minister of Sri Lanka signed the Book of Condolences on the death of the Leader of the Cuban Revolution

SRI LANKA, November 30, 2016. - The Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, Honorable Ranil Wickremesinghe, signed the Book of Condolences, opened at the Embassy of Cuba, on the occasion of the death of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro. Upon his arrival he was received by the Ambassador of Cuba, Juana Elena Ramos Rodríguez.

Speaker of Parliament of Sri Lanka signs the Book of Condolences on the demise of Fidel Castro

SRI LANKA, November 28, 2016. - The Honorable Karu Jayasuriya, Speaker of the Parliament of Sri Lanka signed the Book of Condolences, opened in the Cuban Embassy on the demise of the Leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz.

The Honorable Karu Jayasuriya wrote:

"I express my respects to the great leader of modern times. Fidel Castro was admired by us from childhood. He got up for the common people. He had love and affection for those who needed help.
