Kingstown, 18 February 2026.- The Minister of Education, Vocational Training, Innovation and Digital Transformation of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Honorable Phillip Jackson, held a cordial meeting with the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba, Carlos Ernesto Rodríguez Etcheverry, in which both sides reaffirmed the will to continue strengthening bilateral cooperation in education.
During the exchange, the minister highlighted the deep historical ties that unite the two peoples and recalled with special gratitude his stage of academic training in Cuba, an experience that - according to him - positively marked his professional and personal life and allowed him to see firsthand the island’s commitment to education and international solidarity.

During the interview, the diplomat denounced recent measures taken by President Donald Trump’s administration to further intensify the US economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba.
Opposition Leader of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines receives Cuban ambassador.
Kingstown, 16 February 2026 - The ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Carlos Ernesto Rodríguez Etcheverry, held a meeting with the opposition leader, Dr. Ralph Gonsalves.
During the meeting, the Cuban diplomat updated the opposition leader on the situation in Cuba, relations between Cuba and the United States, as well as the main challenges the island currently faces, in which there has been a strengthening of the US blockade against the island, which has led to a serious crisis in the field of electricity generation. Both sides also exchanged views on the regional and international situation, marked by major political, economic and social challenges.
Dr. Ralph Gonsalves reiterated his solidarity and support to the people and government of Cuba in this moment of particular difficulties, and expressed his wish that the situation on the island return to normality as soon as possible.

Kingstown, February 13, 2026– Representatives of the Cuban community in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, together with members of the SVG-Cuba Friendship Society, reaffirmed their support for the people and Government of Cuba at a meeting held in this capital.
During the event, participants highlighted the historic ties of friendship and cooperation that unite the two nations, as well as the contribution of Cuban professionals in key sectors such as health and education.

Kingstown, 12 February 2026 - The Agency for Public Information of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (API News) conducted an interview with the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to this country, Carlos Ernesto Rodríguez Etcheverry, in which the diplomat gave an extensive update on the current situation of the island, the escalation of US against Cuba and other issues.
The Cuban ambassador denounced the intensification of the economic, commercial and financial embargo imposed by the United States against Cuba, and explained how the tightening of this policy has had a direct impact on the national economy and the daily life of the Cuban people. In particular, he referred to the difficulties in fuel availability, a situation that has caused setbacks in key sectors such as transport, electricity generation and production of goods and services.
