Cuba highlights the role of the United Nations and multilateralism in supporting development of countries of the South
New York, 9 October 2020.“In a pandemic, unequal, asymmetrically interconnected and interdependent world, multilateralism and the role of the United Nations in promoting development have never been so relevant”, stated today Juan Miguel González Peña, Second Secretary at the Permanent Mission of Cuba to the United Nations, in the debate of Item 21: “Globalization and interdependence” by the Second Committee.

Human Rights in Cuba: Cuba´s cooperation with the United Nations human rights machinery

Cuba has a long history of cooperation with all human rights mechanisms that are applied on a universal and non-discriminatory basis; maintaining the willingness to exchange on human rights based on respect and sovereign equality, in accordance with principles, objectivity, impartiality and non-selectivity as an essential support for international cooperation in the field of human rights.
Cuba is a State Party to 44 international instruments on human rights, of a total of 61.
Cuban Ambassador to the United Nations denounces that Cuba has historically been a victim of terrorist attacks from the US territory
New York, 7 October 2020. Ambassador Ana Silvia Rodríguez Abascal, Deputy Permanent Representative and Chargé d´Affaires a.i. of Cuba to the United Nations participated today at the debate of Agenda Item 114 “Measures to eliminate international terrorism” of the Sixth Committee of the United Nations, where she recalled the many occasions on which the Caribbean island has been a victim of terrorist actions, carried out by individuals settled in the United States.
