Cuba reaffirms in CELAC its strong condemnation to the assault on the Mexican embassy in Ecuador.

While addressing the Extraordinary Summit of CELAC, President Miguel Díaz-Canel reiterated Cuba's strong condemnation to the violent invasion of the Ecuadorian authorities at the Mexican Embassy in Quito, and reaffirmed total support and solidarity to President Andrés M. López Obrador, to the Mexican government and the beloved and brotherly people, in the face of the unacceptable transgression of its diplomatic headquarters. 

Cuba calls for peace in the Middle East

We reiterate that there will be no peace and stability in the Middle East until a comprehensive, just and lasting solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is reached, which contemplates the creation of a sovereign and independent Palestinian State, on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem. as its capital and that refugees be allowed to return to their land.

The Havana Film Festival opens in New York.

The Havana Film Festival was inaugurated and dedicated to Latin American cinema with a tribute to Cuban director Nicolás Guillén Landrián (1938-2003) at Hoftra University. With the participation of the director of the Cuban Cinematheque, Luciano Castillo, and film director Enrique Kiki Álvarez, the documentary Landrián, by Ernesto Daranas, was also screened for the first time in New York.

Cuba elected to subsidiary bodies of the United Nations Economic and Social Council.

Cuba was elected to the Social Development Commission for the period 2025-2029 and to the Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Commission for the period 2025-2027, both subsidiary bodies of the United Nations Economic and Social Council. This new election in Cuba is evidence of the international community's recognition of our country's performance in these areas.

Cuba reiterates at the UN call to stop genocide in Gaza.

Israel continues to massacre the Palestinian population with total impunity, violating the Charter of the United Nations, the International Law, the International Humanitarian Law and numerous United Nations resolutions, as it has the complicity and the support of the United States. This was denounced by Ernesto Soberón Guzmán, Permanent Representative of Cuba to United Nations, at the plenary meeting of the General Assembly on the use of the veto in the Security Council.
