New York, 4 November 2016. Cuba reiterated its concern for the tendency at the Human Rights Council to impose selectivity and double standards when dealing with human rights situations.“Today, the Council requires to be rescued from the selectivity and political manipulation characterizing its work in the treatment of country situations. Cooperation and respectful dialogue should govern the work of this organ”, considered today Ambassador Ana Silvia Rodríguez Abascal, Deputy Permanent Representative of Cuba to the United Nations, while addressing the 71 UNGA Plenary.

At the Third Committee on Agenda item “Elimination of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance: general implementation of and follow-up to the Durban Declaration and Program of Action”, the Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba, Mrs. Vilma Thomas urged to place greater emphasis on addressing this issue in its manifestations and potential impact, both by the States and the United Nations agencies dealing with this and other related issues.

New York, 1 November 2016.In general statement on draft resolution L.17: “Developments in the field of information and telecommunications in the context of international security”, the delegate of Cuba to the First Committee, Lilianne Sánchez Rodríguez, pointed out that Cuba shares the concern contained in document L.17 as regards the use of technologies and means of information with purposes inconsistent with international stability and security.
Press Release/ 71 UNGA: Cuba keeps up its commitment with international criminal justice.
New York, 31 October 2016. Cuba reiterated today its position in favor of the establishment of an impartial, non-selective, efficient, just and supplementary international criminal jurisdiction within the national criminal justice systems, which is truly independent and, hence, not subordinated to political interests distorting its essence.
