Press Release: Illinois Cuba Working Group Calls for Continued Collaboration with Cuban Officials

DECATUR, ILL. – August 28, 2019 – Today the Illinois Cuba Working Group welcomed Rodney Gonzalez, the commercial attaché for the Cuban Embassy in Washington, D.C, to the Farm Progress Show. The purpose of his visit was to meet with leaders in agriculture, including farmers, to explore opportunities between Illinois and Cuba.

Illinois has a long relationship of partnering with Cuba. For more than 20 years, Illinois business and civic leaders have been working with Cuban officials to support trade between the countries.

Today, the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in Washington sends a message to the U.S. Department of State, which express its heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, the goverment and the people of the United States for the unfortunate loss of human life and injured persons during the recent mass shootings in El Paso, Texas and in Dayton, Ohio.

Cuba Denounces Development Drawbacks Due to US Blockade

(Prensa Latina) The upsurge of the US blockade against Cuba brings about major drawbacks to the national population development policies, according to the Cuban ambassador to the UN, Humberto Rivero.
 
In a special session of the UN General-Assembly for the 35th anniversary of the United Nations International Conference on Population and Development, Rivero strongly rejected the recent activation of Title III of the Helms-Burton Act which imposes more hurdles to Cuba.
