Cuban FM grateful for solidarity after event at Saratoga Hotel
Havana, May 7
Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez expressed gratitude on Saturday for the solidarity with his country by governments, organizations and friends, after the tragic accident at the Saratoga Hotel in Havana.
The foreign minister tweeted that messages of support for the Cuban people and the families of the victims at this time of affliction have arrived from several parts of the world.
Cuba has received multiple messages of support and condolences from Russia, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Mexico, Peru, China, Syria and Argentina, just to mention a few.
National Network on Cuba Statement on Saratoga Hotel Disaster
On Friday morning an explosion occurred at the Saratoga Hotel in Old Havana. While details are still emerging, officials have ruled out the possibility that it was an attack and attribute it to gas being transferred from a truck. At the moment 50 adults and 14 children have been hospitalized, and 21 adults and 1 minor have lost their lives. Not only has the Saratoga Hotel suffered structural damage, but so have 23 other nearby buildings, including 15 apartments which completely collapsed. The headquarters of the Yoruba Association and the Baptist Church have also been damaged.

Cuba thanks world solidarity against the US blockade

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez thanked the world for its support in the fight against the US blockade, while speaking at the International Solidarity Meeting.
Rodriguez expressed his gratitude to the organizations attending the meeting in this capital for the organization of days against the blockade, declarations, marches, donations and support caravans.
