Cuba sings and blossoms

The Consulate General of Cuba in Toronto participated, on October 10th and 11th, 2025, in the 1st Festival dedicated to the "trova" musical style held in Toronto, "Cuba sings and blossoms."

Organized by Nancy Quetzal and Ernesto Espinoza, the event featured the Cuban "trovadores" (troubadours) Raul Torres, Fidel Diaz Castro, and Erdwin Vichot, accompanied by a group of artists of different nationalities who joined together, armed with guitars, violins, saxophones, flutes, and poetry to represent the ultimate expression of Cubanness through music.

Among the main objectives of the festival was the fight against the genocidal blockade imposed by the U.S. government on our people for more than 60 years. A moment was dedicated to reaffirming support for Cuba and the cause of the Palestinian people.

During both days, an affable and welcoming atmosphere was enjoyed, where Cuban music was felt, and those present sang choruses of well-known songs such as "Cuba Va," "Cabalgando con Fidel," and other hits by great "trovadores" such as Silvio Rodríguez and Vicente Feliú.

In an exchange with the organizers and artists, the Consul General of Cuba in Toronto, Jorge Yanier Castellanos Orta, expressed his gratitude for such a noble idea and support for our country and highlighted the talent of our "trova" and the artists present. In the same way, he emphasized the need to continue increasing and supporting this type of cultural exchange, and in other areas, between Cuba and Canada, which so greatly favors the development and strengthening of relations between both peoples.
