Solidarity in times of hurricane

Jamaica, 31 October 2025. The 27th and 28th of October 2025 will long be remembered by the Jamaican people as the day they suffered the devastating impact of Hurricane Melissa (Category 5). In these difficult times, the humanist and solidarity principles of the Cuban Revolution have been present.

More than a hundred health collaborators throughout this territory were on the front line in various hospitals and health centres, even when the powerful weather event was at its strongest and, in some cases, the infrastructure of the healthcare facilities was affected.

Cuban Culture Day celebrated in Jamaica

Mandeville, 22 October 2025. The North Caribbean University (NCU) hosted the main event for Cuban Culture Day in Jamaica. The event was presided by the President of the university and the Ambassador of Cuba, Fermín Quiñones Sánchez. Representatives of the state mission, Cuban residents linked to the education sector, as well as professors and students from the NCU and other educational centres in the region were present.

President of the House of Representatives of the Jamaican Parliament receives Ambassador of Cuba to Jamaica

Kingston, 21 October 2025. The Ambassador of Cuba to Jamaica, Fermín Quiñones Sánchez, was received in a farewell audience by the Honourable Juliet Holness, MP, Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of Jamaica, who was accompanied by Collen Lowe, Secretary of the legislative body.

The House of Representatives of the Jamaican Parliament approves a motion against the blockade for the seventeenth consecutive year.

Kingston, 21 October 2025. In an afternoon session and for the seventeenth consecutive year, the House of Representatives of the Parliament of Jamaica approved on Tuesday, 21 October, a motion condemning the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the US government against Cuba and demanding the exclusion of the island from the illegal list of countries that allegedly sponsor terrorism. The resolution was presented by the Honourable Alando Terrelonge, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade.

Ambassador of Cuba to Jamaica holds meeting with PNP-Patriots leadership.

Kingston, 21 October 2025. The Ambassador of Cuba to Jamaica, Fermín Quiñones Sánchez, held a farewell meeting with the leadership of the PNP-Patriots, an organisation of young professionals affiliated with the People's National Party of Jamaica (PNP). The Patriots delegation was led by its president, Paul Blake.
