The former Prime Minister of Jamaica and great friend of Cuba, the Most Honourable PJ Patterson, received the Ambassador of Cuba to Jamaica, Fermín Quiñones Sánchez, at the headquarters of the Institute for Africa-Caribbean Advocacy at the University of the West Indies (UWI).

Havana, February 11, 2024 - The First Forum of Cuban Educators Residing Abroad, organised by the Ministry of Education in conjunction with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, was held today, Tuesday, in a hybrid format: face-to-face and virtual.
It was surprising news that the US government would remove Cuba from the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) list of State Sponsors of Terrorism (SST) in a statement made on January 14th, 2025, by the outgoing US President Joseph Biden, one of his final acts, six days before leaving the presidency. As part of an agreement to remove Cuba from the list of State Sponsors of Terrorism, the Vatican mediated a deal between the Cuban government and the Biden administration to release anti-government criminals, imprisoned for violating laws of the Cuban government.
