Declaration of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba

As part of the close and fluid relations with the Vatican, the Government of Cuba has remained in touch with Pope Francis and his representatives and, as has occurred in the past, has kept His Holiness informed about the processes of review of the convictions and the release on imprisoned person, a practice that is common in our judicial system and has characterized the humanitarian record of the Revolution.

The United States takes steps in the right direction, but the blockade remains in force.

Declaration of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba

On January 14, 2025, the government of the United States announced the following decisions:

1. Remove Cuba from the State Department list of countries that allegedly sponsor terrorism;

2. Make use of the presidential faculty to prevent US courts from taking action with regards to lawsuits that might be filed by virtue of Title III of the Helms-Burton Act; and

José Martí Technical High School celebrates the 48th anniversary of its foundation.

Spanish Town, 10 January 2025. The Ambassador of Cuba to Jamaica, Fermín Quiñones Sánchez, and the Second Secretary of this diplomatic mission, Rolando Dávila Gallardo, attended the ceremony celebrating the 48th anniversary of the ‘José Martí’ Technical High School, one of the four educational centres donated by the Cuban people to the brotherly Jamaican people, which opened its doors on this same date in 1977.

Prime Minister of Jamaica congratulates the Cuban people and government on the occasion of the 66th anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution

Kingston, 30 December 2024. The Prime Minister of Jamaica, the Most Honourable Andrew Holness, addressed a message of congratulations to the President of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez on the occasion of the 66th anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution.

On behalf of the Government and people of Jamaica, I convey warmest congratulations to the Government and people of the Republic of Cuba, on the occasion of the Sixty-sixth Anniversary of the Triumph of the Cuban Revolution.
