Cuban Ambassador thanks Jamaica and CARICOM for their stance against the blockade and the Helms-Burton Act

The Ambassador of Cuba to Jamaica, H.E Mrs. Inés Fors Fernández, and Ambassador Marsha Coore Lobban, Acting Director of the Caribbean and Americas Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Jamaica, met today at the headquarters of this Ministry to review the main issues of the bilateral agenda and other matters of common interest.

The PNP is concerned about the increased US sanctions on Cuba and their effect on the Caribbean

Kingston, Jamaica, 15 May 2019: The People’s National Party (PNP) is expressing grave concern about the increased economic sanctions on Cuba imposed by the United States authorities. The Party is again calling for an end to the 60 year old blockade against the sovereign nation.

The PNP’s renewed call comes after the decision of the US government to impose Title III of the Helms-Burton Act which has the effect of tightening sanctions, causing the reintroduction of rationing of food and other supplies and unleashing untold suffering on the Cuban people.

Cuban Ambassador meets with the presidents of both chambers of the Jamaican Parliament

Kingston, Jamaica, 13 May 2019. The Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba, H.E. Mrs. Inés Fors Fernández, was received today at the headquarters of the Parliament of Jamaica by the Honorable Thomas Tavares-Finson, QC, JP, President of the Senate, and Pearnel Charles, MP, President of the House of Representatives.

In a cordial atmosphere, the Cuban diplomat and the Jamaican parliamentary leaders demonstrated the close bonds of friendship and cooperation between Cuba and Jamaica and exchanged on various topics of regional and international bilateral interest.

Jamaican students graduated in Cuba express their solidarity towards the island

Más de medio centenar de More than fifty Jamaicans, Latin Americans and Africans graduated in Cuba, representing the more than one thousand who reside in Jamaica, expressed their solidarity with the Largest Island of the Antilles in an evening of fraternization convened by the Association of Jamaican Graduates from Cuban Universities, residing in this sister nation.
