In an official ceremony at King’s House, the Governor General of Jamaica, His Excellency the Most Honourable Sir Patrick Allen, received from Ambassador Fermín Gabriel Quiñones Sánchez the Credentials accrediting him as Ambassador of Cuba in this Caribbean island.
Kingston, Jamaica, 11 January 2022. At a formal ceremony, Senator the Honourable Kamina Johnson Smith, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Jamaica, welcomed the new Ambassador-designate of Cuba, His Excellency Mr. Fermín Quiñones Sánchez, at the headquarters of the local Chancellery.
During the meeting, parties exchanged opinions on the state of bilateral relations and the existing potential to continue expanding cooperation in other areas, in addition to the one practiced in the fields of health and education.

Aware of this and defying the rain and heavy traffic in Kingston, the friends of Cuba in Jamaica gathered at our Embassy yesterday afternoon to celebrate the 63rd anniversary of the victory of the revolutionary forces against Batista’s tyranny and the triumphal arrival of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro and his comrades in struggle in Havana.

The Association of Cuban Residents in Jamaica 'Major General Antonio Maceo' joyfully salutes the 63rd Anniversary of the Triumph of the Cuban Revolution, which was undoubtedly an event of universal significance, when for the first time in the 20th century the revolutionary vanguard of a Latin American people managed to snatch, through armed struggle, the political power from the forces of the national oligarchy allied to the imperialism.

Dear brothers and sisters,
Reflecting on Cuba’s 63rd anniversary of the triumph of the Revolution, on the eve of the caravan arriving in Havana on that historic day of January 8, 1959, what captivated me most of all, was the powerful and liberating example that it represented for the struggling peoples of the world, especially those in our region, desperate to throw off the yoke of oppression that dehumanize their day-day existence.
