New York, EE.UU., 27 September 2021. The Most Honourable Andrew Holness, Prime Minister of Jamaica, called last Friday for the lifting of the US blockade against Cuba, in his address at the High Level segment of the 76th Period of Sessions of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

The Cuban Charge d' Affaires (a.i.) in Jamaica, Mr. Ulises Calvo Borges, symbolically received today a donation of medical supplies from the government of Jamaica to help fight the Covid-19 pandemic in the Greatest Island in the Antilles. The symbolic delivery was made at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade.

Shepherd, social historian and Director of the Centre for Reparation Research at the University of the West Indies, participated today in the virtual panel on International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition, organized by Casa de las Americas and the Cuban National Commission for UNESCO.
Kingston, Jamaica, 22 August 2021. This morning, 72 members of the Cuban Education Brigade in Jamaica arrived at the Kingston airport and will join the new school year in September. Of them, 26 arrive for the first time in this Caribbean island to teach subjects related to the exact and natural sciences, and Spanish language.
Just last week, the Minister of Education, Youth and Information of Jamaica affirmed that mastering a second language by Jamaicans, particularly Spanish, has the potential to generate more global opportunities for the country.
