Cuba will overcome the imperialist offensive

US President Donald Trump lashes out against Cuba from day one and without pretext. The decision to reinstate the tough economic warfare measures against Cuba, which his predecessor removed just days before, proves the aggressiveness of US imperialism against the sovereignty, peace and welfare of the Cuban people. These measures comprise the inclusion of our country, once again, in the arbitrary list of States that allegedly sponsor terrorism, a designation that shows an absolute disregard for the truth.

Statements to the press by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla

The Government of Cuba has historically and persistently proposed to the Government of the United States of America to maintain a respectful, responsible dialogue, on the basis of sovereign equality, mutual benefit and mutual respect, without interference in the internal affairs of our countries. It has done so publicly, repeatedly by President Fidel Castro, by President Raúl Castro, by President Miguel Díaz-Canel and it has also done so repeatedly and respectfully in a private manner.

St. Kitts and Nevis- Cuba Friendship Association- Press Release

Our association recognizes these measures as positive steps and that they correspond to our demands with a view to achieving a normalization of bilateral relations between both nations. However, we also consider that these measures are not sufficient because the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba is still in place and continues to impact Cuban families on a daily basis.

The SKN-Cuba Friends Association will continue to advocate for the total elimination of this blockade and we will continue to support our sister Cuba.

We will continue with our people defending the right to progress and live with dignity

The Association of Cuban Residents in Saint Kitts and Nevis welcomes the most recent decision of the United States government regarding Cuba.

These measures are positive, but not sufficient. Our country needs to move forward without ties, the Cuban people deserve it. We continue to be subject to an economic, commercial and financial blockade, which must end.

The United States takes steps in the right direction, but the blockade remains in force.

Despite its limited scope, this is a decision that points to the right direction and is in line with the sustained and firm demand by the government and the people of Cuba, as well as the broad, emphatic and reiterated call by numerous governments, particularly those of Latin America and the Caribbean; Cubans residing abroad; political, religious and social organizations and numerous political figures of the United States and other countries.  The government of Cuba expresses its gratitude to all of them for their contribution and sensitivity.
