Cuba, SVG celebrate 33 years of friendship

Kingstown, May 26, 2025 - Today, Cuba and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines proudly and joyfully celebrate the 33rd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations—a date that signifies far more than the signing of an agreement. It marks the beginning of a sincere friendship, woven with threads of solidarity, respect, and real Caribbean brotherhood.

Since that historic May 26, 1992, both nations have walked a shared path of exemplary cooperation, proving that geography and language pose no barrier when ties are forged from the heart and political will.

Minister of Housing, Informal Human Settlements, Youth and Sports of SVG receives Cuban Ambassador.

Kingstown, 5 May 2025. The Minister of Housing, Informal Human Settlements, Youth and Sports of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, the Honourable Orando Brewster, received the Cuban Ambassador to this country, Carlos Ernesto Rodríguez Etcheverry.

In a friendly atmosphere, the Minister and the Ambassador identified areas where there is potential for bilateral collaboration, such as sports and housing.

Cuba and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines have positive relations of cooperation in traditional areas such as health and construction. More recently, this cooperation has expanded to sectors such as electricity generation and currently, both nations are working to further diversify these kind of links

Cuban Ambassador visits Invest SVG headquarters.

Kingstown, 28 April 2025. Cuban ambassador to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Carlos Ernesto Rodríguez Etcheverry, visited the headquarters of "Invest SVG", official investment agency of the Government of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, whose main objective is to attract foreign direct investments to this nation, through specific sectors.

The Cuban diplomat was received by Mr. Glen Beache, executive director of "Invest SVG", who gave an explanation of the work being done in this important institution. Beache also extended an invitation to Cuba to participate in "Everything Vincy 2025", an international fair held in SVG every October.

Rodríguez Etcheverry reiterated the invitation to the Vincentian business community to attend ExpoCaribe 2025, a trade fair that will take place in Santiago de Cuba from 23 to 27 June.

President of the SVG Football Federation receives ambassador of Cuba.

Kingstown, April 24, 2025- The president of the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation, Mr. Otashie Spring, received Cuba’s ambassador to this country, Carlos Ernesto Rodríguez Etcheverry, where both sides addressed issues of common interest.

The Vincentian federative and the Cuban diplomat discussed the possibilities of promoting cooperation projects in this sport, in which both countries have significant potential in the CONCACAF area.

The parties recalled that the national teams of the two countries have played several official matches in the past and have held friendly matches both in Cuba and in Saint Vincent.

Cuban resident in SVG participates in the I Forum of Cubans Living Abroad linked to the health sector.

Kingstown, 23 April 2025. The Cuban resident in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Juan Carlos González Dalmau (BA in Biological Sciences), participated virtually in the I Forum of Cubans Living Abroad linked to the health sector, which was carried out within the framework of the V International Convention Cuba Salud 2025.

The event, organized in a hybrid format, face-to-face and virtual, by the Ministry of Health (MINSAP) jointly with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba (MINREX), was a space for participants to exchange on issues related to the improvement of the national health system in Cuba.
