St. Vincent and the Grenadines pays tribute to José Martí on the 172nd anniversary of his birth.

Kingstown, 29 January 2025. Members of the Cuban community in SVG; members of the SVG-Cuba Friendship Society and the embassies of Venezuela and Cuba in this Caribbean nation, remembered our country’s National Hero, José Martí, on the 172nd anniversary of his birth.

Martí’s thought and work were evoked through the Cuban film "Cuba Libre", of recently deceased director Jorge Luis Sánchez, which recreates the endings of the War of 95, the defeat of the Spanish empire at the hands of the “mambises” and the American intervention in the war, perhaps one of the most frustrating moments in the history of the Cuban nation.

STATEMENT BY THE CUBA-ST. VINCENT AND THE GRENADINES FRIENDSHIP SOCIETY ON THE RE-INCLUSION OF CUBA ON THE US LIST OF STATES SPONSORS OF TERRORISM

The Cuba-St. Vincent and the Grenadines Friendship Society strongly rejects the re-inclusion of Cuba on the arbitrary and bogus List of States Sponsors of Terrorism, a decision that was recently taken by the new US president, Donald Trump and something our organization warned that could happen again at any time.

As we have stated before, this is an arrogant, baseless and vindictive act of   aggression by the US government against the Cuban people.

This decision shows, once again, the cruelty of these and so many other measures of siege and suffocation, which are applied against Cuba for the purpose of domination and destruction.

Former President Joe Biden’s decision on removing Cuba from the List implied a public and official recognition that Cuba is not a state sponsoring of terrorism..
