Statement of the Cuban Foreign Minister at the 75 UNGA

In 2020, Cuba, like the rest of the world, was faced with the singular challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic.  The US Administration took on the virus as an ally in its merciless non-conventional war; it deliberately and opportunistically stepped up the economic, commercial and financial blockade, bringing about losses for the country in the amount of around 5 billion dollars.

Cuba expresses its highest gratitude to all UN Member States that endorsed the Resolution entitled “Necessity of ending the economic, commercial and financial embargo imposed by the United States of America against Cuba”, approved by the 75 UNGA on June 23rd, 2021.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, sent a congratulatory message to the Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AU), H.E. Mr. Moussa Faki Mahamat, on the occasion of Africa Day, which was delivered at the headquarters of that organization.
